Some synchronistic events at the end of the year
December 30th seemed to have a theme. As part of my commitment to publish a story every day in December, I wrote one about traveling with my brother yesterday. I put a link in it to another story I had done about traveling.
I was named Top Writer by Medium in the Travel tag last week. The story about going on vacations with my brother was part of an effort to maintain that status. Yesterday’s story was selected by curators at Medium for distribution in the travel topic.
Right after I published “Traveling With My Brother Is Fun”, I looked at the OKCupid app on my phone. There was a message from a man I’d met a few years ago that said:
Hi Victoria. You’re very attractive. I’m not monogomous. I’d love to meet you. Maybe we could plan some travel together?
I thought this message was a bit unusual for a first contact. I think the guy forgot we had met once about 4 years ago. At the time, his dance card was full with a wife at home and a girlfriend overseas. He and his wife are ethically non-monogomous.
I published a story about “My Fake Tinder Profile That Says What I’m Actually Looking For” two years ago where I said I was looking for a travel companion because I wanted to travel with a romantic partner instead of my brother. It was written tongue in cheek but it is said the truth is said in jest.
I sent a link to the story to the guy on OKCupid who was in Europe with his wife on vacation; awake at 2:15 in Lucerne, hoping to get back to sleep for an early ride to Paris for a New Year’s celebration.
Was the Universe sending me a message about Traveling yesterday? I have a ticket to go visit my brother in February. I usually wait for inspiration to strike before I plan a big trip. In point of fact, I’m a bit tired of dragging my crippled ass all over the world. I will probably meet the OKCupid guy for lunch when he gets back from his trip. I don’t know if I would be actually interested in having an “arrangement” with a man like that, but I’m keeping an open mind.
Here is the story:
