My friend Pamela lives vicariously through me. Both of us live with physical limitations brought on by a sudden, severe stroke at age 35, yet our lives are quite different; she lives with a partner and I have been on my own since my marriage ended 7 years ago.

She loves to hear about my adventures in dating as a woman with a disability as she’s been off the market for many years. It all sounds so romantic and exciting even if sometimes dating is dull, boring and frustrating.

She loves hearing about my adventures as an adaptive equestrian which is a part of my life I am extremely grateful for. This isn’t something that is easily available in the remote area where Pamela lives.

My recent move to a retirement community has enhanced my social life in ways I never could have imagined. I am singing with a rock band by the name of Never Too Old as part of the Music Club. I go to shows regularly here in the community.

I joined the Friends Club because who doesn’t want friends?

When I got an email from the Friends Club inviting me to a pizza party, I quickly RSVP’ed and planned to go check it out.
