The "charcoal bog and choking, haunted veil" has reached me all the way here in New Jersey. There's no smoke in the air, but I have added my 60+ year old brother with lung issues living in Diamond Heights to the ever-growing list of dark concerns wrought by 2020. Made worse by the restrictions on travel. He can't readily escape, and I would do no good even if I could get there.

So. much. darkness in the air this year.
