O.M.G. You’re Such A Great Writer!
What does that even mean?
Great writing is a subjective thing. I’ve had people tell me that I’m such a great writer. But, objectively I’m not sure this is true. Stephen King is such a great writer. Shakespeare was such a great writer. Often, I think it’s the simple act of bravery required to take pen to paper that impresses others enough to make that statement.
Good writing involves proper spelling, punctuation and grammar. But these things can be borrowed or bought online. Anyone can learn to write complete sentences. We need to have a compelling story or a creative way to tell it. It helps if we can elicit emotion from our readers. People read to be informed and entertained. Sometimes we just want to feel something.
I think when I get rave reviews from readers it’s because they are my friends or they are simply impressed that I’m doing this. It sounds like I write in blood sometimes. Some close friends tell me I write profound things.
If you are brave enough to write in blood and you do it regularly, then, OMG, you’re such a great writer!
Keep up the great work.
