Romance

No Fire Tonight

Poetry

Normally the singers felt the heat as they walked through to the bar
Coming in from the cold winter nights the roar of the fire
Warmed the lovers’ bones
Who had been fueling their romance for years
With homemade heat and crackling love
Over the long winters of their lives
Until
the arrival of spring
warmed the cold world
so tonight there was only music
