I Don’t Think I Suck
Writers tend to be a tortured lot. We lost many of the great ones to addiction issues. Some very profound work comes from the most tormented souls. It’s so common to read about here on Medium writers hesitating to be confident and hit that “publish” button. On the day I noticed there were a lot of stories of writers doubting the value of their writing, I came across Iva Ursano’s story about this very topic:
You’re Really Not That Good at Writing
You kinda suck actually.
She elaborated on the insecurity we often feel about baring our souls and stories to the world, wondering if they are worth reading. We love writing for its own sake, and we also want recognition, claps, and money. My comment to Iva was she stated my own sentiments exactly, but I don’t think I suck.
I know I may not be the best writer in the Medium universe, but I feel that if I need to write it, someone needs to read it. If we are brave enough to do this, we do not suck.
Thank you for reading :)
