A Farewell To My Trees
Getting sentimental about moving on
Thank you to all the trees who stood tall here over the years
Quietly blowing in the breeze
Falling on the house once in a hurricane
Casting cool shade on my deck chair
Lighting up the world in autumn with your fiery colors
Catching snow to become beautiful in dismal winter
I loved being your custodian
And being greeted by you every morning
As I look up to the skies with gratitude for another day
I will miss you, dear trees
But alas,
It is my time to go
After living through the hell
of a marriage that has died
But forward is the only direction for us all
So I will remember you fondly
As I navigate the urban jungle to come
